Span Foundation has proudly supported Zubair Ahmad Lone’s training for the past four years, enabling his remarkable rise in Alpine Snowboarding across national and international circuits. Through sustained funding and mentorship, Zubair has been able to train abroad, compete consistently, and push the boundaries of what an Indian winter-sport athlete can achieve.

His results reflect this dedication: over the last year alone, Zubair won 13 medals in Europe, including two gold and one silver, establishing himself as one of India’s most promising alpine snowboarders.

This extraordinary trajectory caught the attention of the global snowboarding community. The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) described Zubair’s ascent as “The Greatest Snowboarding Journey You’ve Never Heard Of…”  – a powerful acknowledgement of both his talent and the odds he has overcome.

In December 2025, Zubair created history by becoming the first-ever Indian to qualify for and compete in a Snowboard World Cup race, held in Mylin, China. His debut on the world stage marks a defining moment not only in his career but also in the evolution of Indian winter sports.

It is a deeply proud moment for Span Foundation and for the country … a testament to what sustained support, resilience, and unwavering belief can help an athlete achieve.
