Meeras Mahal Donation – In Our Founder’s Memory

Shri Baldev Singh Dhiman (19 April1935 – 29 April 2021) was an eminent structural engineer based in Delhi. A graduate of IIT Kharagpur, he completed his masters degree in structural engineering at MIT, USA followed by a degree in business management.

On returning to India, his first project was the design of the Banihal Tunnel with a German engineering team. He later joined the MES and also taught at IIT Kanpur. He set up Span Consultants Pvt. Ltd. in the 1970s which went on to become one of the top three multi-disciplinary engineering firms in the country.

Besides his contribution to infrastructure design for the nation as an engineer, he was also a philanthropist donating towards the betterment of the society through the trust he founded – Span Foundation.

Donation for the complete refurbishment of Meeras Mahal, established by Atiqa Bano in Sopore, J&K, has been done in his memory by the current trustees of Span Foundation.
